Calving season is well under way in the region. This week, Agweek makes a stop at the C&K Farm, a partnership of Craig and Kirk Schaunaman south of Aberdeen. Helped by their nephew Chad, they operate the farm and ranch, which includes about 350 mature beef cows. The Schaunamans have enjoyed a pleasant winter but are grateful for the moisture recently that has settled the dust. To read more about the Schaunamans (Craig is the Farm Service Agency state executive director in Huron, S.D.) look to Agweek magazine, April 25.
Spring brings a fresh outlook to the countryside. Look into the eyes of this little critter and tell me you don’t see a bright future for agriculture. Mother Nature has a wonderful sense of humor, yes?
