John Riskey, local president with the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union, says the union members will vote on the contract proposed by American Crystal Sugar Co. “by Nov. 1,” as required in the proposal. They voted 96 percent to reject it the last time. Crystal officials say they’re not union-busting. Both sides accuse the other of failing to offer significant changes, and claim they’ve offered significant changes. The lockout has been running since Aug. 1, or nearly four months.

how long will the union hold out or should i say how long will the union employess let their union r un their agenda here…..this is very good proposal…if u truly want 2 go back vote to accept……
Put down the crack pipe Karen. This proposal sucks bigtime. You do realize that in this proposal that wage protection that is keeping you making the big money while doing a grunt job will go away right??? For you to be against the union when wage protection that was bargained for by the union and has made you thousands of extra dollars over the years is two faced to say the least.
Lets say it like it is. The company wants to bust the union. All that they have done shows this is their objective. This contract offer has changed very little from the last offer. If the company really wanted to settle this all they would have to do is offer a fair contract. This will be settled at some point so why not now? The union doesen’t run the aganda of any of the union members. Every word of the contract offer was+ will be read to the membership before any vote will be taken by secret ballot.Union members will vote any way they want to on their own.
Karen, Have you looked at the hole proposal, it is not very good and the union does not run my agenda. So my vote will be the same as the last time HELL NO I WILL NOT ACCEPT!!!!!
This lady (Karen) has been abusing one of our union benefits for the last 7 years… she has received Wage Protection which has almost doubled her paycheck for 7 years now- people like her are the reason the company is trying to change the union benefits to begin with. She has purposely taken an easy, low paying job at the factory while keeping wage protection instead of bidding for a better high paying job like every other union member. She is abusing the company and stealing money from them. Wage Protection is a union benefit if a job is eliminated, so that the employee does not lose their rate of pay until they can find a comparable job at the company. She refuses to be union- but she is happy to receive the union benefits. What a hypocrite!!!
Karen- If you like the new contract so much- pay your union dues and vote on it yourself. Don’t criticize the rest of us.
